"The world is a dangerous place to live, not because of the people who are evil, but because of the people who don't do anything about it." ~Albert Einstein
Just think about it. If I asked you who was doing more harm to the world between a person sitting safely at home on their couch or a person who was fighting for ISIS or some other terror group, what would you say? The average response (unless you are in a terror group) is the latter. But I believe they are both doing an equal amount of harm.
The problem lies in watching. When all you do is watch, that is when you are causing a problem. You watch everything go wrong, yet fail to change anything, fail to make a difference. You don't even try to help, and therefore, you are part of the problem. So, we have a minority that kills millions of people, and a majority who sits and watches. We'll pity people in the Middle East, or anywhere for that matter, but as long as it's not us, it's not our problem. So we do nothing. In doing so, we allow evil to fester in our world. This brings to mind another quote that was written during WWII:
"First they came for the Socialist, and I did not speak out—
Because I was not a Socialist.
Then they came for the Trade Unionist, and I did not speak out—
Because I was not a Trade Unionist.
Then they came for the Jews, and I did not speak out—
Because I was not a Jew.
Then they came for me—
And there was no one left to speak for me."
~Martin Niemöller
Hide and watch. If we are a generation of watchers, we will soon be a generation of failures. We need to be a generation of doers. Don't add to the problems, solve them.
